This one is about Classes. Yes, that's right, new classes. ( See more: paizo.com/products/btpy978v ) As a player, I'm very excited. However, I'm not a current player. Thus, as a DM, I'm going to have more hijinks on my hands. Agree? Disagree? DISCUSS!

Most of the classes are just hybrids of other classes. The beta is available. For example, there's a Skald, which is a Barbarian/Bard hybrid, who can inspire rage, and Alchemist/Rogue that looks pretty cool. And some other stuff.

After having checked out the final version, gotta say I'm not super impressed. There's some good stuff to be sure, I like the feel of the Slayer and Shaman especially, and new archetypes and feats for all classes are great. But, the major thing I took away from it is that they are, like Adam said, hybrid classes; combinations of two existing classes. So, most of the material just feels like rearranged bits of existing stuff, which it is, I guess. Like, thematically speaking, we could already accomplish most of what this book does without this book. Maybe they could have spent this time and energy breaking new ground?

Maybe. I don't know much about what goes on behind the scenes at Paizo, but the beta, at least, had fan-service written all over it. Most Pathfinder players converted from 3.5 where (as y'all know) there were like 100 classes each with a minor variation. I wanna get my hands on the full book and see what options are available. I do like new Archetypes and Feats.

I agree with thomas that some new ground would have been better than this, but there's still some interesting material to be found, especially in the new prepared-spontaneous casting options. I was worried about the swashbuckler when they said it was a rogue/gunslinger combo, but taking the grit pool and making it sword-based is probably the best thing they could do for it. I also would like to see what else is in there... but perhaps I'll have to wait until they post on the PRD.

I scanned through this last night, and I think brawler is an awesome hybrid. The new style feats are outstanding. I just wish there was better fighter rogue option. I'm not super sold on the swashbuckling.
On second thought swashbuckler with the dervish dance feat could be pretty impressive.

I think the Slayer is a pretty bomb combat rogue: Full BAB, sneak attack, 2 good saves, trapfinding/rogue talent/ranger weapon style potential? And, studied target is just gravy. Granted, it wants for the sheer amount of feats that a fighter gets, but its a solid choice all around. .
