Post character backstories here! Keep in mind that character backstories will net you experience points based on the time it took you, effort you expended, and depth of the backstory. If writing isn't your thing, just run ideas by me before doing anything else, but chances are if you do anything related to your character and their development/history outside of the game, you will get some xp for it. Post your endeavors here proudly!

Born to a family of emigrated farmers from the Mwangi Expanse, Alyssa Siyavash has worked all of her life towards easing the debt that her grandfather owed when he came north to Lastwall to start a new life with a new family. Starting up a homestead on the south banks of the eastern Path River, the last two generations of Alyssa's family have worked the family farm or at Dortrot Ranch as a stable hand. At her father Samuel's request, Alyssa originally worked at home while her cousins Orrick and Lowan did the heavy work at the ranch. While Alyssa was happy working with her father in the fields, it wasn't long before farm life grew stale for her, and she dreamt of riding out into the sunset to have grand adventures like the Knights of Ozem always did. Her father wasn't so keen on the idea, and never entertained the thought of Alyssa moving away from the family, stating that the world was too dangerous and that the battlefield was no place for a farm girl. As she grew up, Alyssa saw the challenges and rewards that her cousins earned after a hard day's work while she peeled potatoes and picked crops out of the dirt, and decided that the ranch was the best way to get out from under her father's protective wing.
Old Man Dortrot was a hard boss, and didn't think Alyssa would have what it took to keep up with Orrick or Lowan, but what she lacked in physical strength she made up for in determination and a knack for training horses. Eventually she was throwing hay bales and breaking in chargers with the rest of the boys. She had particular skills with breaking and training jennets, and took a liking to one in particular, a black stallion whom she named Onyx. With the extra money coming in from the ranch, Alyssa was able to help her father repay his share of the debt and begin building a real life for themselves. However, this still wasn't enough for Alyssa. She stayed on at the ranch for another year, but began to feel a sense of wanderlust, an ache to leave home and see the world. As it happened, a small band of knights headed north to battle the hordes of the Worldwound passed through Lastwall to acquire more horses for the war effort, and when they came to Dortrot Ranch Alyssa was captivated. The heraldry, the stature of these men and women was everything she had ever dreamt of; no doubt they never had to peel potatoes or throw hay bales to make a living, not when they were the heroes of the Mendevian Crusades! Alyssa packed her bags and headed up proudly to ask to join the band, her heart racing and her eyes full of hope.
They laughed in her face.
"The Worldwound is no place for a little farm girl," they said, "Go home and tend to your horses."
She plead with them, begged them to let her come with, she could tend to the horses, she would polish their armor, work without pay, but nothing would change the knights' decision.
So Alyssa went home, her dreams dashed, to her father's house. They ate dinner in silence, and she went to bed early, sobbing quietly into her pillow. When she finally found rest, her dreams were plagued by the knights and their squires, laughing, surrounding her, laughing. She awoke abruptly in a rage. She WOULD head to the Worldwound, she WOULD join the Crusade, and she WOULD show them that this little farm girl CAN be a knight! Alyssa grabbed her bags, and under the dead of night made for the ranch. She took Onyx and the rest of the money she had saved up and struck out on her own towards Mendev, leaving only a note and the hope that one day her father would forgive her.
